About the author
My philosophy about traveling is "The journey is the destination." It's important to take time to get off the interstate and see the sights, meet the people and learn history. My first road trip was at age six when my family drove cross-country from New Jersey to Arizona to attend my grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary. Those were the days when motels and road services were few and far between, and air-conditioning was not yet widely available. I remember the hum of the overhead fan in a hot, humid motel somewhere in Texas. The heat was so unbearable that we left at 3 am, piled into our crowded sedan and continued West with the windows wide open. Oh, the sights we saw! My first awesome view of the Grand Canyon, my uncle's cattle ranch, Estes Park in Colorado, Santa Fe, New Mexico. Thus, the seed was planted, and I've been taking road trips ever since. What a country! I've lived in New Jersey all my life, have a wonderful, patient husband, two awesome daughters and three delightful grandchildren. Some of the most memorable road trips have been with the grandchildren. Two of my other passions beside travel and writing are music, particularly folk and guitar, and photography. Currently I'm writing a second book about my travels through the heartland and the southwest. I'd love to receive your comments and/or questions.
